Shubhankar Sharma started playing golf when he was 7 years old. He was ranked no 1 player across all IGU categories golf Tournaments at Junior/Sub Juniors Level. He won Indian Amateur Golf Championship for the year 2012 at the tender age of 16. He won six time on PGTI Tours. He won Joburg Open an European Tour event in South Africa. He was the first Asian to win in South Africa.

Mr. PS Pruthi IRS (Retd) President was Chief Guest of the honoring ceremony, Mr. Pratap Hoon, Senior Vice President, Mr. Sanjiv DP Azad IRS General Secretary, Mr. Harpuneet Singh Sandhu Treasurer& Major Anil Ahuja were also present on the occasion.
Jesse Grewal as he is known is no stranger to CGA. His name resonates with golfing success in Chandigarh. He has been an unsung hero for golfing professional and has very aptly has been rewarded by the Government of India by conferring on him the Dronacharya Award for outstanding coaching in sports and games 2023. Earlier Late Sh. DP Azad, founder President of the CGA received the Dronacharya Award for cricket.
An alumnus of The Lawrence School Sanawar and Punjab University Chandigarh, Jesse Sir, started playing golf 50 years ago and has been teaching golf in Chandigarh for the last 33 years. He turned professional in 1988 and played the PGA of India tournaments for two years before becoming a golf teaching professional. Jesse sir has an outstanding career to boast of. He is a categoria di maestro from Italian Golf Federation, a Level 1 TPI Golf Fitness instructor, a Level I Sam Putt Lab, a Level 2 Junior Coach and level 2 from Harold Swash Putting School.
He has trained internationally acclaimed golfers like Shubhankar Sharma, Amandeep Drall, Irina Brar, Yuvraj Sandhu, Karandeep Kochhar, Angad Cheema, Abhijit Chadha, Gurbaaz Mann and buddiing golfers like Nihal Cheema and Ojaswani Saraswat.
He has been a coach to the Golf Team at the 2023 Asian Games where Aditi Ashok won a Silver Medal and a coach from to 2008 to 2012 to Men’s team at the Eisenhower trophy ( The World Cup of Golf ).
He also Coached the Chandigarh Golf Team of Karandeep Kochhar and Anant Ahlawat, who won the Gold medal at the 2022 National Games and coached the Punjab Men’s Team in 2001 National Games where they won the Gold Medal.

Caddie Training Programme on 2nd February 2024
Dated:- 2/2/2024 -A year long Caddie Training Programme, for facilitating selection of 3 or 4, low income group and under privileged caddies to the PGTI qualifier, conceived and initiated by CGA, under the guidance of its President Sh. PS Pruthi IRS and in collaboration with Winsome Textiles and NIK Bakers was launched on 2nd February at CGA Golf Range.
The programme selected 18 Top caddies after a tournament held at Chandigarh Golf Club on 15/1/2024 followed buy an interview to judge herein suitability shortlisted 14 caddies to undergo this programme.
The caddies would be provided free kits, Coaching, Fitness training and a round of golf every week and would be supervised by the top coaches and trainers of golf including Mr. Jesse Grewal a recipient of the Dronacharya Award and Mr. Sagar Diwan.

Chandigarh Golf Team Wins Two Gold Medals -National Games 2022

Chandigarh professional Golfer, Karandeep Singh Kochhar, brought laurels to Chandigarh and the Chandigarh Golf Association by winning the Men's Singles Golf Event with a huge margin in the National Games 2022 being held from 5th to 9th October 2022 at Kensville Golf Resort Ahmedabad (Gujarat).
Inspite of rough playing conditions, Karandeep (267) played consistently well under pressure and achieved a score of 4 under on Day 1, 6 under on Day 2, 7 under on Day 3 and 4 under on the final 4th day round. His total of 21 under after four rounds created a new record at the prestigious Kensville Golf Course and will be remembered fondly with times to come. He had a comfortable final lead of 10 strokes over Abhinav Lohan (277) from Haryana.
In the Team Event, Chandigarh State Team ceremoniously won the Gold Medal with their team of Professional Golfer Karandeep Kochhar and Amateur Golfer Anant S. Ahlawat scoring a consolidated 571 after the completion of 4 Rounds. The Silver Medal was taken by Karnataka with a score of 581 and Bronze Medal was won by Delhi with a score of 582.
Golf has been included in this year’s edition of the games after a gap of 21 years. Both Shri S.K. Sharma IPS, (Retd) former DGP Punjab, President Chandigarh Golf Association and Col. H.S. Baidwan, Manager for the Chandigarh State Golf Team and the Punjab State Golf Team were present at the Games venue to personally congratulate Karandeep as well as the Chandigarh Team on this momentous win.

National Games -2022

Chandigarh Golf Association (CGA) held a Sendoff Meet for the golfers selected by Chandigarh Golf Association and Punjab Golf Association to participate in the National Games-2022 to be held in Gujarat (Ahmedabad) from 29 Sept 2022 to 10 October 2022. Golf has been included in this year’s edition of the games after a gap of 21 years. The National Games are the biggest sporting event in the country and the best players of the country take part in this big event.
Chandigarh State Golf Team comprises of two Professionals, Karandeep Kochhar & Lakhmehar Pardesi and two Amateurs Golfers Anant Singh Ahlawat & Hazel Chauhan. Punjab state golf team also comprises of two professionals, Ashbeer Saini and Amandeep Dral and two amateur golfers Yuvraj Singh and Mannatpreet Kaur Brar.
Karandeep Kochhar would be the Captain of the Chandigarh team and Ashbeer Saini for the Punjab team. Both Men and Women golfers will play at Kensville Golf Resort Ahmedabad from 5th to 9th October 2022.
Col. H.S. Baidwan, himself an ace golfer and a renowned Golf Manager will be head of both the teams. He briefed the players present on the occasion.
On the Sendoff Meet held at the CGA Golf Range, SK Sharma IPS, (Retd) former DGP Punjab, President Chandigarh Golf Association and Yashvir Mahajan IAS (Retd) President Punjab Golf Association presented Golf Kits to the players and motivated them for giving their best performance at the National Games. Sanjiv D.P. Azad IRS, General Secretary & Harpuneet Singh Sandhu Treasurer, Chandigarh Golf Association also graced the occassion.

CHANDIGARH GOLF ASSOCIATION IS ORGANIZING A ‘LONGEST DRIVE’ GOLF COMPETITION FOR AMATEUR MEN AND WOMEN OF THE TRICITY ON 22ND OCTOBER AT THE CGA GOLF RANGE, SECTOR 6, CHANDIGARH. THE COMPETITION WILL BE HELD FOR PARTICIPANTS IN UNDER 15 YEARS’ AND OVER 15 YEARS’ CATEGORIES. THE COMPETITION WILL START AT 1400 HOURS.
